Take more control of your electricity costs
Generate your own electricity, store it in a battery and use it when you need it. Any surplus can be exported to the grid.
Daytime
Generate electricity
Your solar panels generate electricity during daylight hours, reducing the amount you need to buy from the grid.
Daytime
Store surplus energy
Your battery stores unused solar electricity for later.
When you generate surplus
Export surplus electricity
Eligible exports may earn payments through your electricity supplier.
Evening
Power your home
Use stored electricity when your panels are not generating.
What a battery does for your bills
Solar panels typically generate the most electricity around the middle of the day, when your home may not need all the energy being produced. A battery lets you store surplus electricity for use later.
Without a battery
- Unused solar electricity is exported to the grid, potentially earning export payments
- In the evening, you buy electricity from the grid as normal
With a battery
- Store more of your solar electricity for use later
- Use your own stored power in the evening, when your panels are not generating
- Potentially reduce the electricity you buy from the grid
Savings are not guaranteed. What you save depends on your electricity use, your tariff and the size of your system.

Frequently asked questions
Is there anything to pay upfront?
£0 upfront options are available for eligible customers, subject to the terms of the finance agreement. Your monthly payment will depend on your chosen system and agreement length.
Will I still receive electricity bills?
Yes. Solar panels can reduce the amount of electricity you need to buy from the grid, but most homes will still need grid electricity at certain times. You will also continue to pay any applicable standing charges. Your actual savings will depend on your electricity usage, tariff and system performance.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Your system is remotely monitored. If a fault occurs or performance drops, we identify it and arrange covered repairs, with no call-out fees or excess.
What does the Solar Plan include?
Your plan can include a solar PV system, battery storage, professional installation, remote monitoring, periodic inspections and unlimited covered repairs.
Will solar panels work in winter?
Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight, not heat, so they work all year round. They produce less in winter because the days are shorter, and more in spring and summer.
Do I need a south-facing roof?
No. South-facing roofs generate the most, but east and west-facing roofs can also work well. Your online design and survey will show what your roof can generate.
What if my roof is partly shaded?
Shade reduces how much a panel generates. Shading is checked at the design and survey stage, so you know what to expect before you commit.
Do I need planning permission?
Most home solar installations are classed as permitted development and do not need planning permission. Exceptions can include listed buildings, flats and homes in conservation areas, so check with your local council if any of these apply.
